Eugene R. York, 85, of Indianapolis passed away March 18, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 15, 1931 in Jamestown, TN to Robert Daniel and Annie Lee (Williams) York.

Eugene proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, also serving in Korea. He worked the Ford Motor Company in 1957, retiring in 1991 after many years of faithful service. Eugene married the love of his life, Billie in 1954 and they spent 49 years together. He enjoyed traveling with Billie, sports, NASCAR, and gardening. Eugene was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Billie York; son, Steve York; sister, Thelma Lee Beasley and brother, Willie York.

Eugene is survived by his sons, Dan (Joy) York and Garry York; brothers, James York, Travis York, Roger York and Cletis York; sisters, Nora Owens and Mary Callahan; daughter in law, Earlaine York; grandchildren, Jessica (Jeff) Eastman, Stevie York, Melissa York, and Matthew York and great grandchildren, Lilly and Eli Eastman.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 23 at 10:00 am, also in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
