Eva "June" (Axsom-Blackwell) Baugh met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Nov. 5, 2022. Also affectionately known as, "June-Bug", "Junie", "Missy Boo Boo", "Momma" and ''Mamaw". She was born June 13, 1927 to John Wesley Axsom and Goldie Pearl (Hays) Axsom in Bloomington, Indiana. Her Siblings were: Milton Wesley Axsom, James Axsom, and Bonnie Jewel (Axsom) Brinegar. They all preceded her in death.
June was extremely intelligent and graduated early from high school and attended IU. She earned her teaching degree and later went back for her master's degree. She taught at Helmsburg, Central, Batchelor Middle School and then retired from Beech Grove Middle School in the early 80's.
On May 23, 1948, she married Harold E. Blackwell with whom she had five children: David (Janet) Blackwell, Maridean (Ron) Siscoe, John (Connie) Blackwell, Debra "Susan" Blackwell (deceased), Sabra Ann (Mike) Stark. He preceded her in death.
She remarried on June 12, 1976 to David "Floyd" Baugh. June gained two step-children, David (Harolda) Baugh, Jr. (deceased) and Ann (David) Jones. Floyd, also, precedes her in death.
She has numerous grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, down to the great, greats. She always counted her steps as her own. She was known to "adopt" friends of the family as well. To her they were known as "just another girl" or "just another boy" to add to the family.
June had a great sense of humor that we are sure she got from her mother. She had a quick wit and usually did pranks, especially around April Fool's Day. She loved to quilt and do puzzles. She made 4 wedding dresses for her daughters/granddaughter. She loved sewing clothes and doing crewel embroidery. She was never without cookies or some kind of yummy dessert when people dropped by to visit. To say she was an excellent cook is an understatement. She loved to garden and travel and had many "girl's trips" with her daughters every year. LEMONS were a NECESSITY. She had an impish grin and would wrinkle her nose up and giggle. She patted baby's heads quickly with her left hand hoping she would make them all lefties as well. She loved blowing kisses as you'd leave and would tell you she loved you. To her youngest she always said, "momma loves her baby". Her favorite song was, "I love you, a bushel and a peck" and loved the "doodles" at the end. She was such a KIND, GIVING, and LOVING person.
June had Godly character. She was a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church. While able, she read her bible daily. She truly showed His love to everyone who gave her the opportunity. Those who got to know her, loved her. Those who did not, lost out on a huge blessing in their lives. Her DASH was well lived, and she always said "I'm blessed" … as are we who got to love on her.
