Felix Charles Romanowsky, 96, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Altenhiem Health & Living in Beech Grove. He was born on February 9, 1915 in Joliet, IL to Dominic and Susanna (Juskis) Romanouskis. He later moved to Rockdale, IL and then onward to Indianapolis. He married Elsie Akelaitis on June 8, 1940.
Felix was an accountant for the former American Can Company from which he retired. He was a charter member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Baxter YMCA. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, carving, and reading. Felix was also an Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts while in Rockdale.
Felix is survived by his daughter Ellen M. Griffin (husband, John) of Greenwood and son Dr. James C. Romanowsky of St. Cloud, MN; four grandchildren: Mark B. Romanowsky, Pamela R. Romanowsky, Christopher Roman, and Laura Roman Hibbard; and four great-grandchildren: Camilla Hibbard, Greta Hibbard, Amelia Roman, and Abigail Roman.
Felix was preceded in death by his parents; wife Elsie; and son Robert J. Roman.
Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, is assisting the family during their loss.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Francis & Clare Catholic Church, 5901 Olive Branch Road, Greenwood with Father Vincent Lampert officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
