Obituary

Mr. Floyd Edgar Hawley, Greenwood, passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 5, 2022. He was 94. Floyd was born February 14, 1927 in Greenwood, Indiana, a son of the late Alva Clarence and Bertha Mae (Elkins) Hawley.

Floyd was a proud veteran and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post#252 in Greenwood. Floyd also had been employed with Standard Die Supply where he faithfully served as a supervisor and retired in 1990 after 42 years of service.

Floyd spent much of his leisure time doing the things that brought him the most joy. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping as well as raising and riding horses. Floyd also enjoyed working in his yard and raising his vegetable garden every year. He enjoyed listening to old school country music and watching old Westerns on television. He was a devoted family man and loved his family deeply.

Floyd is survived by his children, Floyd 'Peanut' (Vickie) Hawley, Linda Knight, Tim (Bobbi) Hawley, Cindy (Dave) Garmon and Kathy Taylor; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his wife of 69 years, Violet Ruth (Worthington) Hawley and a brother, Robert Hawley.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 pm, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor Danny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
