Frances Lydia Shipley, age 86, of Greenwood, passed peacefully into rest on October 14, 2015 at The Hearth at Stones Crossing. Frances was born in Southport on January 14, 1929 to Estel and Anna R. (Wise) Bradley. She was a graduate of Southport High School with the Class of 1947. Frances was a highly skilled drapery maker and seamstress. She was very sought after for her work, yet very modest about her skills. She was an avid reader who enjoyed doing needlepoint and crocheting. She was a longtime member of Mooresville Community Church. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knows and loves her.
Frances married James I. Shipley on June 12, 1948 and they spent the next 67 years at each others side raising their wonderful family. James survives Frances along with their sons, Bruce (Rene'') Shipley of Spartansburg, PA, Daryl Shipley of Camby, and Terry Shipley of Bargersville; daughter, Lynda Durden of Mooresville; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Audrey Barlow, Kate Denny, Bert Shipley and Phyllis Rouse.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Rev. Randy Weddle officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Cemetery, Nashville at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
