Frances "Fran" Love Fitzgerald Darlington, 62, died on Sept. 12. Fran was born on March 28, 1945 in South Bend to Love Groninger Fitzgerald and to the late Patrick Fitzgerald. She attended St. Mary's Academy and then Ball State University. She also received her Master's of Arts degree from Indiana University. For 38 years, Fran served as an elementary school teacher. She was a committed teacher who loved working with children. For most of her 38-year career, she taught in the Martinsville School District, Green Township Schools. Fran will be remembered most for her huge heart, big smile and her wonderful laugh. She was extremely faithful, hard working and dedicated to her family and her profession. Fran is survived by her husband, Richard (Rick) Darlington; son, Patrick; daughter, Reva. She is also survived by her mother, four brothers, Joe (Linda) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Gene (Patti) of Indianapolis, IN, Kevin and Kerry of Helsingborg, Sweden along with nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Irene Darlington of Collinsville, IL; Uncle Hal Groninger (Patsy) of Plymouth, IN; Aunt Mary Alice Segall, Sarasota, FL; Uncle Robert Fitzgerald, Medford, WI. Visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. and memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery located on 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. www.forestlawncemetery-fh.com
