Mr. Francis Joseph 'Tony' Tomamichel passed away on the evening of Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Franciscan Health - Indianapolis. He was 89. Tony was born May 6, 1933 in Beech Grove, Indiana, one of 13 children born to John and Freda (Weber) Tomamichel.
Tony attended and was a graduate of Southport High School. He had been employed for many years with LS Ayres & Company and after he retired he began working as a bulk driver for Ferrell Gas before retiring a second time. Tony honorably and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Tony was formerly an active member of the South Emerson Church of God in Beech Grove where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees as well as being Head Usher. He also served as a Past-president of the Indiana State Church of God Men's Association. He loved reading his Bible and lived out his Christian faith by always lending a hand and helping those in need.
Tony enjoyed being outdoors and took pride in caring for his gardens and mowing his lawn. He was also a staunch supporter and assisted his son, Todd, in drag racing where they raced a 1976 Chevy pickup. He also liked watching sports, especially football and basketball.
Tony deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren and looked forward to the time he could spend with them.
He is survived by his children, Debbie Tomamichel, Pam Eustace, Rhonda (Gary) Jordan, Beth (Mick) Skirvin and Todd (Melissa) Tomamichel; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; his brothers, Jerry Tomamichel and Larry Tomamichel as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his wife, Carol Ann (Waymire) Tomamichel; a son-in-law, John Eustace and ten brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon, Friday, January 20, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Following the services, he will be laid to rest beside his wife at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Military honors will be conferred by a contingent from the United States Army and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Military Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the Alzheimer's Association.
