Frank Lynn
Califar
January 8, 1955 – April 18, 2026
Mr. Frank Lynn Califar, of Greenwood, passed away on the early evening of Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the age of 71 years. Frank was born January 8, 1955, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Valerie Califar and Betty (Sauer) Blackwell.
Frank attended Southport High School and went on to dedicate more than four decades of his life to the tire industry. Frank began his career with Petro’s Tire, which later became Pomp’s Tire Service, where he faithfully served for over 48 years. Through hard work and commitment, he rose to the position of shift manager, recently retiring in December of 2025.
A man of simple pleasures and strong passions, Frank had a deep love for cars, especially Corvettes, and took pride in owning and caring for several classic models over the years. He was rarely happier than when he was detailing his vehicles to perfection. Frank also had a great appreciation for music, particularly that of Elvis Presley, with whom he shared a birthday and was an avid football fan who cheered on both the Indianapolis Colts and the Oakland Raiders.
Frank was also a die-hard fan of dale Earnhardt and enjoyed a friendly rivalry regarding Jeff Gordon, often wearing a t-shirt that read, “I’m for #3 and anyone who beats #24”! He enjoyed pickup trucks, good food—especially macaroni and cheese—and the companionship of his beloved dogs. Above all, Frank treasured his family and found his greatest joy in spending time with them and being at home.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Kellie Califar; his grandchildren, Nicholas Stover, Austin “AJ” Stover and Elizabeth Berkebile; his brother, Bob Califar and his wife Janice; his sister-in-law, Pat Weimer; along with several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry (Donna) Califar and Lonnie Califar; his sister, Valerie Califar and his nephew, Rick Califar.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the funeral home.
Frank will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love of cars and music, and, most importantly, his unwavering devotion to his family.
