Frank Hounchell, Jr., age 84, of Indianapolis passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 with his family at his side. He was born April 4, 1929 in Manchester, Kentucky to Frank and Florence (Samples) Hounchell.

Frank was a Corporal in the U.S. Army. He was also a Health Inspector for Marion County for 54 years inspecting food service conditions that included the Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400, Marion County Fair and Marion County schools. Frank was also a Special Deputy for the Marion County Sheriff''s Department. Frank graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. He was given the Distinguished Hoosier award by former Governor Mitch Daniels. Frank was a lucky man, a well-known prankster who loved to laugh and who enjoyed going to casinos.

He married the love of his life, the former Neola Arnold on June 26, 1948 and she survives him along with their daughter, Marla (Russ) Renton; sisters, Eunice Smith, Jean (Tip) Jones and Jackie Allen; granddaughter, Brittany Cole, and several nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
