Frank Lee Walraven, age 76 of Indianapolis, IN, born on 7/11/1948; departed his life on 2/15/2025. He was born in Indianapolis, IN to Paul Bernard and Leota Faye (Evans) Franklin, then nine months later he was adopted by Millard Edward and Kerrie Ruth (Sharp) Walraven. Spent his childhood in many locations due to his parents moving to follow work and education, places including Linton, IN, Lexington, KY, Oakland, IN, Shelburn, IN, finally settling down in Terre Haute, IN; in 1966 and from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN; with a BS in Art Education-Masters in secondary education, in 1970.
Began his professional career in the fall of 1970, teaching art at Seeger Memorial High School in West Lebanon, IN. Four years later, was called to his lifelong career of teaching art at Perry Meridian High School in Indianapolis, IN. During his time at PMHS, he taught students in Ceramics, Jewelry, and Painting. From 1992-2008, he worked on creating the set designs for the musicals and plays, beginning after going to the office for the need for a schedule change for his son, Travis. He retired from teaching after 38 years, in 2008.
In 1973, he met the love of his life, Barbara Lynn; whom he married, settled down, and raised their family in Indianapolis, IN after a long year of courtship. He enjoyed taking many trips including all 48 lower states, many Canadian Provinces, England, Ireland, Iceland, the Netherlands, and Mexico.
Frank leaves behind his wife, Barbara Lynn Walraven of 50 years; daughter, Tammra Lynn Worley (Donald); sons, Travis Lee Walraven (Deidre), and Troy Lee Walraven; 4 grandchildren, Joshua, Stephanie, Brandon, and Tristen; and 2 great grandchildren, Zoe and Maisy. He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Leota Evans (Birth) and Millard and Ruth Walraven (adopted); parents-in-law, David and Helen Dennis; along with several extended family members and friends.
A visitation for Frank will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The memorial service will be on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 4:00 pm.
