Frieda Fae Chatterton, 93, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday January 13, 2023 in New Port Richey, FL. Frieda was born on December 17, 1929 in Jackson County, Indiana to Charles and Mary Hansome. Frieda was the youngest of 10 and as a child, she enjoyed taking care of animals on the farm, cooking with her mom, attending church, tap dancing with her best friend, and being a carefree kid in the country.
Frieda graduated from Clearspring High School and after high school, moved to Indianapolis, married her first husband and gave birth to a baby boy, William Charles Spurlock. Frieda worked in production at Western Electric for 31 years. During her years working she enjoyed playing Ping Pong and traveling with her work friends.
She attended church at Old Bethel UMC and loved volunteering in their food pantry. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones, traveling, gardening, coloring, word searches, and square dancing. While square dancing Frieda met a sweet man who loved her dearly, Matthew John Chatterton. They soon got married and lived a fulfilling life spending time with family, traveling all over the world, and truly enjoying each other's company. Frieda was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma, but most of all she was a friend to all of those around her and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Thomas Spurlock of New Port Richey and Brittany (Derek) Kantaskas of Tampa; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Callie, and Fisher Kantaskas. four step children, 12 step grandchildren, and five step great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew John Chatterton; son, William C. Spurlock; parents and 9 siblings.
Thanks to HCA Florida Trinity Hospital, HPH Hospice, and Thomas and Gisele for the assistance and wonderful care provided to Frieda during her last month.
Frieda's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 11, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN. Visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a eulogy at noon followed by laying her to rest in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
