Gary
Gurevitz
Apr 6, 1946 — Jun 18, 2026
Gary Gurevitz, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026. He was 79 years old. Gary was born in Hammond, IN, to his parents, Morris and Dorothy Gurevitz. He graduated from George Rogers and Clark High School, class of 1965. Gary married his wife, Kathy (Kopf) Gurevitz, on May 10, 1997, and they shared 29 years of marriage together. Gary answered the call of this nation by enlisting into the United States Army and, after his period of faithful service, was honorably discharged.
Gary worked a variety of jobs to help support his family. He ran his own business GMG inc. for many years before working in telecommunications. Later, Gary served as a branch manager for Key Bank, where he retired in 2010. Gary enjoyed being outdoors, mowing his lawn, and playing racquetball. He was known to unwind after long days with a delicious meal, a sweet treat, and a slow burning cigar. Gary had a talent for completing home projects and enjoyed teaching his handy skills to his family. Gary never met a stranger and allowed his outgoing nature to guide him through his life. He loved to make others smile and share a laugh. Gary’s family meant the world to him, and he loved his roles as a husband, a father, and a Papa. He was always very supportive to his kids and grandkids in their extracurricular activities and sports. Gary will be remembered for his hardworking nature, generous spirit, and loving heart for many years to come. He will be dearly missed and forever cherished by those he leaves behind.
Gary is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Stacie Short, Jeff (Ashtin) Gurevitz, Michael (Leyna) House, and Adam House; his grandchildren, Emma, Ryder, Masen, Brooks, Gracie, Farah, Vinny, and Ella; his siblings, Sandee Green and Susan (Jack) Roberts; his several nieces and nephews.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Penny Gurevitz.
