Obituary

Geneva Gossett, Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026. She was 93 years old. Geneva was born in Old Landing, KY, to her parents Caleb and Mae Stamper. Geneva married her husband, Richard Gossett, and they shared several years of marriage together until Richard passed away in 2008.
Geneva served her family as a homemaker while her children were small; she took pride in dutifully cooking, sewing, and keeping house for her beloved family. She was an involved mother who regularly volunteered for school programs and activities for her kids. When her children started to get older, Geneva began her career at Peoples Bank & Trust where she worked for over twenty years as a credit manager. Geneva was a spiritual woman with strong convictions. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time outdoors walking in the sunshine, sitting on her porch, and tending to her flower garden. Geneva loved travelling all over the country and jumped on the opportunity to fly (especially first class). Her favorite place to visit was Colorado. Geneva loved to dress fashionably and present herself in a very dignified way; she always made sure her hair and makeup were done in case friends or family called her with plans. Above all, Geneva loved to spend time with her family during family picnics and holiday celebrations. She loved Christmas and took pride in preparing delicious holiday meals and going to candlelight services. She will be remembered for her outgoing, friendly nature and the outpouring of love that was ever-present. Geneva will be dearly missed and forever cherished by those she leaves behind.
Geneva is survived her children, Carol Wood, Lois (Robert Vastine) Ross, and Betty (Mike) Wampner; her special niece, Linda Robertson; her former son-in-law, Dee Wood; her grandchildren, Tori, Jeff, and Rob; her great grandchildren, Cody, Lindsay, Sean, Miranda, Lilly, Emmett, Megan, Declan, and Ryan; her great great grandchildren, Leslie and James; her siblings, Thelma and Luci; her honorary sister, Jean Farmer.
Geneva is preceded in death by her parents, Caleb and Mae; by her husband, Richard; her siblings, Betty, Shirley, Faye, George, Mitchell, and Bradley; her granddaughter, Lisa; her children's father, Leslie Ross.
A visitation for Geneva will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. The funeral service will be on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:30 am with Chaplain Julie Pimlott. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 1:00 pm.

The family would like to especially thank Westminster Village North and Transitions Hospice group for their love and care during Geneva's final days.
