Achenbach Sr.

George Roger Achenbach Sr., Indianapolis, passed away on the early morning of Sunday, May 10, 2026. He was 74 years old. George was born in Indianapolis to his parents Edgar and Lena Achenbach. George worked as a machine repair technician for Allison Transmission and retired in 2009 after nearly 32 years of service. Prior to this, George worked at Sheron Continental as a printing press mechanic for Queen’s Group.
George was a member of the Masons and loved riding his motorcycle. He greeted every morning with a cup of coffee, and could be found tinkering with anything around the house. His beloved chihuahua Bullet was always by his side. Above all, though, he loved caring for his grandkids and great-grandkids.
George is survived by his children, George (Nicole) Achenbach Jr.; his grandchildren: Shayla, Devin, Halyee, Morgan, Cameron, Christopher, and Kennedy “En”; his eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Edna (Don) Vaught and Alice Fisher; his sister in law, Betty Achenbach; his brother in law, Larry Fisher; and his nieces and nephews, Donnie, David, Donna Mae, Jennifer, and Jerry.
George is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sarah Achenbach; his siblings, Ed Achenbach and Patricia (Don) Sutton; his nieces and nephews, Eddie, Lori, Pam, and James.
A visitation for George will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 4 PM to 7 PM. A visitation prior to the funeral service will be on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 11 AM to 12 PM. The funeral service will be on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 12 PM. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 1 PM.
