Obituary

Mr. George Malcolm Marlow, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away the morning of December 9th, 2021, at Franciscan Hospital in Indianapolis.

George was born on April 3, 1944, in Berkeley, California. He was the son of the late George Byers and Margaret Lucille (Garred) Marlow. George attended George Washington High School in Indianapolis, where he was a member of the Student Council, Lettermen's Club, Basketball, Football, Track, and Junior Prom King candidate. After graduating in 1963, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served multiple tours of duty in the Vietnam War, before becoming a drill instructor in San Diego. In the early '90s, he started his own industrial flooring company, G Marlow & Associates, Inc. retiring in 2010 from the daily grind. Deciding that he couldn't just sit at home, he went to work driving a limousine for Advanced Limousines in Indianapolis because he just loved meeting people and all the conversations that came with it, retiring again in 2015.

George enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, watching IU Basketball, the Indianapolis Colts, Fox News, and attending Marine Corp Reunions. George was a member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Beech Grove Lodge No. 694, F&AM, and a member of City Life Church of Greenwood. George was a proud Marine and known for his boisterous personality but also his non-judgmental, and caring ways. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

George is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Joyce Anne (Winegar) Marlow; his children, Kimberly (Johnny) Marlow, Kevin (Deb) Marlow, John (Imelda) Sherwood, Laurie (Robbie) Duke, and Marsha (Vince) Thompson; 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Paul (Linda) Marlow and Gloria (Dean) Phillips; a sister-in-law, Jackie Marlow, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by a grandson, Morgan Johnson, and his brother, Richard A Marlow.

Funeral services will be held at 7 pm, Wednesday, December 15th at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, IN. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 pm until the time-of-service at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at 10:00 am, Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with military honors provided by a contingent from the United States Marine Corps and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Military Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in George's memory by mail or online to the Wounded Warrior Project.
