George R. Speckman Sr., 79, of Greenwood, died Tuesday June 22, 2010. George was born to the late George and Mamie Knott Speckman in Indianapolis, IN on February 19, 1931. George retired after 35 years as a civil engineer with Indianapolis Power and Light. He served our country in the US Navy. George was an active member of Our Lady Greenwood Catholic Church were he served on the parish council and school board at one time. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. George married Julia Schwart on August 19, 1953 and she survives. Also surviving are three sons: George R. Jr., Mark T. And Michael E. Speckman. One daughter: Gretchen M. Krug. Seven grandchildren. He is preceded by 6 siblings. Family will receive friends from 2-6 pm Sunday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Monday at Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
