George Richard Woodring, age 58, of Indianapolis, passed away January 25, 2011. He was born August 5, 1952 in Indianapolis. His parents were George E and Thelma B. (Fletcher) Woodring and they preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Southport High School, Class of 1971. Richard was a U.S. Army veteran and a mechanic most of his life. The last number of years he was the postal manager at the University of Indianapolis. He loved his houseplants, cooking, coin and stamp collecting and he enjoyed concept and muscle cars. Richard is survived by his son Nicholas (Carrie) Woodring; grandson, Andrew and future grandson Owen Richard Woodring. He is also survived by many extended family members. Funeral services will be Friday, January 28 at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation is Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to The American Diabetes Association.
