Geraldine "Jeri" Martin Naessens, 87, passed away on June 2, 2026, in Greencastle, Indiana after a brief illness.
Jeri was born on November 2,1938 in Ronceverte, West Virginia, the daughter of Lewis Edgar and Nella Mae (Austin) Martin.
She married her love, Robert Alois Naessens, on September 6, 1958, while serving in the Women's Army Corp (WAC). They were married for 53 years before Robert's passing. She discharged from the military in 1958 to begin their family. After raising her children, Jeri worked several jobs, but her favorite was for Victory Field as part of the custodial crew where she retired in 2012. While there, she was nominated for the prestigious citywide Rose Award for Service Excellence.
Jeri enjoyed spending time with her family, supporting various charities, working crossword puzzles, cooking for those she loved, and reading her Bible.
Jeri was preceded in death by her husband Robert Alois Naessens, parents Lewis Edgar Martin and Nella Mae Markey, stepfather Leonard Markey, son Robert "Butch" Naessens, and great granddaughter Kylah Elisabeth Hay.
Survivors include her children, David Naessens and wife Candy, Jacquelyn "Jacquie" Cullom and husband Mark, Lisa Bell and husband Robert; grandchildren: Michelle Naessens, Robert "Aaron" Naessens, Alec Naessens, Wendy James and husband Tim, David Naessens (Kat Bisonnette), Charles "Lee" Naessens and wife Rachael, Mark "Markey" Cullom and wife Jana, Shane "Wyatt" Cullom and wife Jessica, Gunner Hay (Tiffany Taylor), Natalie Bell; sister, Jacqueline "Jackie" Bishop, and 15 great grandchildren.
Private Services will take place on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home.
