Gilbert "Woody" Wood, 94, of Franklin, died Wednesday January 20, 2010. Gilbert was born to the late Gilbert and Sarah J. Pavey Wood in Owens County, IN on February 7, 1915. He was a 50 year member of the Carpenters Union # 41. Woody was an active member of the Meridian Street Church of God, which he did help build and served on the church board. He was a member of the Bargersville Senior Center and held a number of offices with them. He and his wife owned the Woody's Stop 11 Store from 1953-57. They also sold Amway for a number of years. He married Katherine V. Avery on February 26, 1938 and she survives. Also surviving are one son and daughter in-law: Wallace and Diana Wood. Four daughters and son in-laws: Judith Coomer, Phylis and Dale Bechert, Theresa and John Clark, and Kathleen S. and Jeffrey Anderson. Sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded by one grandaughter, one son: Gilbert L. Wood and one brother and several sisters. Family will receive friends from 2-6 PM Sunday. Funeral Service will be at 1:30 PM Monday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorials may be given to the Meridian Street Church of God.
