Obituary

Gloria Munn, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. She was 90 years old.

Gloria was born in Doniphan, MO to her parents Wilburn and Grace Skipper. She graduated from Alton High School at 16, class of 1950. Gloria married her husband, Jack Munn, on September 4, 1954. They shared 51 years of marriage until Jack passed away on March 31, 2005.

Gloria worked as a claims adjuster for Teamsters Union and retired in the early 90's after several years of service. Gloria became a Meridian Church of God member with her husband in 1960 and was a dedicated servant there for decades. She was in the Women's Society, played the church piano and organ, led the children's ministry, served as a Sunday school teacher, and was in the women's bible study. It was here where Gloria's profound impact will be felt for years to come. When people recall "Miss Gloria," it's the effect she had on their faith that they remember most.

She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, gifting her children and grandchildren items they will treasure forever. Gloria liked decorating cakes and could often be found sitting in her comfiest chair reading or writing. She once said she sometimes wrote, "just for the fun of putting words on paper." She loved having a full table and hosting her family for cinnamon roll baking and fish fries.

Jack and Gloria built a beautiful life together. They enjoyed traveling and had countless adventures including some of their favorite visits to Germany and the Holy Land.

Gloria's family remembers her as someone who embodied a beautiful blend of kindness and conviction, calm and passion, wisdom and curiosity. She was quiet, not quick to anger, gentle-spirited, and forgiving. Amid uncertainty, chaos, or sorrow she was a beacon of light and love. But most of all, Gloria is remembered as someone who lived a life of faith and dedication. A life that will continue to impact those who knew her for generations. A beautiful life. A beautiful legacy.

She will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.

Gloria is survived by her children, Rita (Greg) Mott, Randy (Deanna) Munn, and Rhonda (Roger) Werner; her grandchildren, Joshua (Michelle) Mott, Brandon (Jenni) Mott, Allison (Dustin) Hite, Aimee (Evan) Cottle, Anna Munn, Ross (Heather) Werner, and Reid (Jenna) Werner; her great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Josiah, Keegan, Reuben, June, Lorelai, Annelise, Olsen, Jonah, Oakleigh, and Dash; her siblings, Gilbert (Carol) Skipper and Ray (Karen) Skipper; her numerous nieces and nephews.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her great-granddaughter, Eden Mott.

A visitation for Gloria will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 11:00 am. And a Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Meridian Church of God starting at 12:30 pm.

"I prayed for you this morning

At the beginning of the day.

I prayed that God would guide your steps

Along the narrow way.

I prayed that he would give you strength

To meet each day's temptations.

That he would give you wisdom

As you savor new sensations.

May you ever feel the stiring

Of the Spirit in your soul.

Guard your call with fervor;

Let naught but God control.

When this day is over —

At the setting of the sun,

I pray you'll hear that still small voice

Say, "I'm pleased, my child. Well done!"

— A poem, and prayer, by Gloria Munn
