Gloria Jean Shearer, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She was 79 years old. Gloria was born in Effingham, IL to her parents Gordon and Erma Hankins. Gloria married her husband, Michael Shearer, in 1971, and together they shared 54 years of marriage.
Gloria worked as a claim representative for Social Security and retired after over 30 years of service. Gloria was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church with her husband for many years. Gloria was an animal lover who was known to take in cats and dogs when she was able. She loved reading books in her free time and caring for her beloved husband and daughter. She will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Michael Shearer; her daughter, Nicole Shearer; her siblings, Melody Patton and Rodger Hankins; her nieces and nephews, Brooke Jones, Craig Jones, Kyle Hankins, and Kirsten Poynts.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation for Gloria will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 1:30 pm. Entombment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:30 pm.
