Obituary

Gracie Pauline Smith, Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025. She was 86 years old. Gracie was born in Paige, WV to her parents Henry and Violet Honaker. She was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Oak Hill High School, class of 1957. Gracie married her husband Charles "Eddie" Smith in December of 1967, and they shared 47 years of marriage together until Eddie passed away in 2014.
Gracie worked in Assembly for RCA and later Blue Luster. Gracie was a member of Southwood Baptist Church for many years. Gracie enjoyed playing card games and listening to music by Elvis Presley. She was a lifelong fan of Elvis who even had a life-size cut out of him that she treasured. Gracie was a selfless person that never shied away from taking care of her husband and siblings as they became ill later in life. She enjoyed staying involved with her grandchildren's lives and spending time with her family every chance she could. On special occasions, Gracie was known to dress up in themed costumes to make her family smile. Gracie had an infectious laugh and an onry personality that will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.
Gracie is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Mike) Nicoson; her grandchildren, Ashley (Geronimo Berroa Jr.) Nicoson and Devin Nicoson; her great grandchildren, Gianna Berroa and Jakobi Numbers; her several nieces and nephews.
Gracie is preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Eddie; her sons, David Lawson and Harold Postalwait; her daughter-in-law, Crystal Lawson; her three brothers and four sisters.
A visitation for Gracie will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. The funeral service will be on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 11:30 am. Entombment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 1:00 pm.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests that donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association and the Lymphoma Foundation.
The family would like to thank the Riverwalk Village Nursing Home and St. Croix Hospice Care for their tender care, love, and attention that Gracie received at the end of her life.
