Grethe Smith, 86 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on September 17, 2018. Grethe was born in Copenhagen, Denmark on July 22, 1932 to Ville and Hansine Hansen. Grethe grew up in Denmark, surviving the Nazi Occupation. Grethe was a European Ballroom Dancing Champion. She moved to the Unites States at the age of 21. Grethe made frequent trips to Denmark throughout her life. She continued her passion for dancing, having won titles at the Arthur Murray dancing school. Grethe was a hard working woman, working into her 80's. She had lots of beloved friends. Grethe loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Grethe is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Tove Jensen in 2017. She is survived by her loving daughter, Sherrie Refshammer; granddaughter, Kristina Refshammer; great grandchildren, Gwendolyn Pietzak and Dylan Bonitz; and many extended family members.
