Obituary

Ed Bishop, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 at his home.

Ed was born in Welch, West Virginia on July 20, 1954. The son of Everette L. Bishop and Dorothy Bishop (Baldwin-Jarrell).

Ed, a mechanic by trade and an entrepreneur by heart, started his many careers at Detroit-Diesel/Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, Indiana. Then on to Carter Express, Anderson, Indiana, in the mid-1980's as General Manager and ultimately a partner until 1997. In 1999, Ed became a franchise owner of two GNC stores located in West Lafayette and Kokomo, Indiana until 2005. Ed finished his professional career as a Financial Advisor for New York Life Insurance.

Ed was a musician, a pilot, a "Mr. Fix-it", an avid motorcycle rider, a big-and-small dog lover (Irish Wolfhound; Great Dane; Dachshund breeds) , a NASCAR enthusiast, a compulsive "As Seen On TV" shopper, die-hard Republican, and a very proud member of the NRA.

Ed is survived by his significant other, Jessica Dile; son, Chad (Kelly) Bishop; daughter, Kimberly Light; brother, Roger Bailey; brother, Kenneth Bishop; five grandchildren (Kevin, Jessica, Brandon, Breana, Madison); and eight great-grandchildren (Ricki, Ciara, Shawn, Austin, Donovan, Braylon, Keaton Jo, Rowan); and mother of his children, Linda Bishop.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clifford Bailey; daughter, Karen Jo Smith; and granddaughter, Stephanie Smith.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm with a funeral service at 5:00 pm in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. Burial be held on Tuesday, November 13 at 11:00 am in South Mound Cemetery, 505 Bundy Ave., New Castle, IN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children ( http://www.MissingKids.com ), an animal shelter of the donors choice, or the National Rifle Association all on Ed's behalf.
