Mr. Hasco Lee Ward, Indianapolis, passed away on the early evening of Tuesday, August 16, 2022. He was 93. Hasco was born March 11, 1929 in White Pine, Tennessee, a son of the late Simon Frank Ward and Rosa (Stewart) Ward Grubb.
Hasco was reared in the mountains of Southeastern Kentucky and came to Indiana with his family. He was employed with the Truck and Bus Division of General Motors Corporation as a welder and retired in 1988 after over 30 years of service.
Hasco was a member of the Indianapolis Baptist Temple and was a former member of the United Auto Workers. He was a determined man and taught himself to read so he could read his Bible. This determination was evident as he was still planting trees in his yard at the age of 91. He enjoyed fishing and music especially Bluegrass and Country Gospel as well as gardening where he specialized in raising tomatoes.
Hasco was always interested in electronics and even decades ago was interested in recording equipment. He spent many hours archiving music from vinyl albums, transferring them to CD's. Most of all, he deeply loved his family, especially his grandchildren and cherished the time they could spend together.
Hasco is survived by his children, Bonnie Terhune, David (Kathy) Ward, James (Donna) Ward, Gary (Nikki) Ward, Paul (Shirley) Ward and Paula Ward-Harshey; his grandchildren, Melissa, Shawn, Matthew, Chris, Lauren, Jacob, Aubrey, and Philip; his great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Tyler, James, Austin, Nicholas, Maggie, Dylan, Hazel and Brody and a great-great-grandson, Roman.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his loving wife of 67 years, Hazel Ward.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, Friday, August 26, 2022 at the funeral home.
