Obituary

Hazel L. Stoughton, age 94, of Martinsville, passed away at her home with her family at her side. Hazel was born July 11, 1918 in Columbus, IN to Elias and Lena (Holman) Sprague. Hazel was a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church. She was the head cook at Waverly School for many years and she was an avid flower gardener. She loved to cook and her homemade noodles were the best.

Hazel married Arthur H. Stoughton in 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1998. Hazel is survived by her sons, Steven (Patty) Stoughton of Martinsville, Randy (Sherolyn) Stoughton of Bargersville and Kent (Elizabeth) Stoughton of Hanover Park, IL; daughter, Cindy (Ed) Bucker of Mooresville; sister, Arlis Sprague of Columbus; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death also by her parents, five brothers, John, Sam, Bob, James and Orville Sprague; four sisters, Dorothy Hall, Helena Sprague, Faye Sipes and Norma Martin.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Program at Bluff Creek Christian Church.
