Helen L. Lucas, 91, formerly of Greenwood, died Friday, March 26, 2010 in Columbia, Mississippi. Helen was born to the late George and Ethel Terrell Winkler in Brown County, Indiana on September 14, 1918. She married Paul W. Lucas in 1948 and he precedes. Helen had worked as a department secretary with the Indiana Department of American Legion Auxiliary for 25 years. She at one time was active in the Hoosier Girl's State and other local auxillary programs. Surviving are a daughter and son in-law: Sandra and William Jackson. One son and daughter in-law: Randy P. and Donna Lucas. One brother: Dr. Robert Winkler. Three sisters: Martha George, Wanda Metzel and Esther Prewitt. Three grandchildren: Brian Jackson, Paul W. Lucas II and Christina Lucas Hage. She is preceded by her parents, husband and a brother Howard L. Winkler. Family will receive friends one hour prior to a 3:00 PM service Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135 Greenwood, IN 46143.
