Mr. Herbert Leland (JR) Lamb, Jr., Wabash, Indiana, passed away on the early afternoon of Saturday, April 8, 2023 at AMG Specialty Hospital in Muncie. He was 72. JR was born April 2, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the only son of the late Herbert Leland and Virginia Rose (Davis) Lamb.
JR attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and had been employed with CJ's Dump Truck Service and retired in 2013 after 20 years of service. Previous to that, he had worked for Skinner's for 10 years as well as Hix Wrecker Service for 30 years.
JR was a proud member of the Teamsters Union Locals 716 and 135 most of his adult life. He was a mechanic and loved working on cars, especially old cars, often repairing vehicles for family and friends. He was who you called upon with any car issues. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
JR enjoyed going to car shows, finding a good shopping deal and playing hidden mystery games. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone who would listen.
JR dearly loved his family and looked forward to spending time with them. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
JR is survived by his wife, Teresa Lamb; his children, Rebecca Stewart, Matt Lamb, Melissa Lamb, Christina Grimes, Aaron Bechert and Makayla Lamb; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his sister, Rebecca Benedict as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his sisters, Theresa Lamb, Sally Rees and Peggy Speigel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 17, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
