Herman R. Settles, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014. He was born April 11, 1931 in Akron, Ohio to the late Ivan and Dorothy (Carrico) Settles. He married Margaret (Crabtree) on January 21, 1950 in Jamestown, Tennessee. Herman retired from Amtrak in Beech Grove after thirty nine years of service. He was an avid fisherman, and loved the outdoors. He is survived by three sons, Gary (Barbara) Settles, David (Joyce) Settles, and Mark (Kay) Settles; a daughter, Judy (Klaus) Arndt; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 26, 2014 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Friends may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association.
