Herman L. Teepe Jr., age 87, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025 with family by his side. He was born on June 16, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN. He graduated in 1954 from Emmerich Manual Training High School.

He started his stagehand career while attending high school. He joined the IATSE Local 30 at the age of 21. His first job in the union was at a live burlesque house. He joined the United States Army at the age of 21 1/2 and was stationed in France. He was an engineer responsible for rebuilding the buildings that were destroyed in WWII. He returned home and started his family. Some of his proudest moments in his career was the day he opened Clowes Memorial Hall. He had quite the career with NBC, CBS and ABC as well. He covered the first man on the moon, Woodstock, the riots at Kent State, MLK, Chicago and Detroit. He was also able to cover Presidents Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy and Carter; VP Humphrey, and VP candidate George Wallace. During his career with Local 30 he got to meet several celebrities such as Crystal Gayle, Liberace, Elvis, Yul Brenner, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, Pete Nero and many more. He finally retired at the age of 83. Some of his hobbies included bowling, woodworking, recording music, watching NASCAR and the Indy 500. He loved hanging out with his kids and grandkids. He most enjoyed taking long drives. He was able to drive almost every road in the state of Indiana. One thing he would tell you is he enjoyed his life and had no regrets.

He is survived by his children: Tonya Crowley, Holly Sticken, Tammy Horton, Tina Wells, Toni Lynn McKinney, Theresa (Shauna) Lawson, Kevin (Skylar) Lawson, and Paul (Tasha)Lawson, 25 grandkids, and eight greatgrandchildren.

There will be a visitation for Herman on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will commence at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The burial will immediately follow at 12:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
