Hilman W. Culp, Sr., 88, of Indianapolis, passed away January 1, 2016. The son of Walter H. and Lodean C. (Mayenschein) Culp, Hilman was born January 18, 1927 in Thorp, Wisconsin.
Hilman was a charter member of the Irvington Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoyed traveling. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Hilman received his Masters Degree in bio-chemistry from Michigan State University. After 34 years of service he retired as a research chemist from Eli Lilly and Company.
He is survived by sons, Hilman W. Culp, Jr., Edward M. Culp, Kenneth M. Culp and David A. Culp; sister, Elizabeth Culp; grandchildren, Jonathon Culp, Geoffrey Culp, Jennifer Culp, Trevor Culp, Cory Culp, Christopher Culp, Nicholas Culp, Eric Miller and Charles Miller and great-grandchildren, Dominic Stonerock, Ryan Opperman, Lorelai Kissling, Curtis Culp, Emma Rose Culp and Katie Culp. In addition to his parents, Hilman was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle (Karr) Culp, whom he married on June 10, 1951 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, a daughter, Carolyn A. Miller; one brother and three sisters.
Pastor Fred Troxell will officiate at a memorial service 10:00 a.m. January 10, 2016 at Irvington Seventh-day Adventist Church - 2101 South Franklin Road. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. January 9, 2016 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor''s choosing in Hilman''s memory.
