Indianapolis:
Howard Emery Flynn, 99, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2011. Howard was born on August 17, 1911 in Bedford, IN to the late John L. and Edna (Holler) Flynn. Howard is a 1930 graduate of Bedford High School. He married his love Mildred Kern in 1933.
Howard was employed with GM Allison Transmission as a machinist for many years; and at Lamb Machinery as a machinist before working a combined 41 years, retiring in 1971. Howard was a member of the Greenwood Moose Lodge #2079. He loved Bluegrass music and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Howard is survived by his loving children: Valerie Jean Gray; Gary Flynn; Diana (Scott) Moore; Sue Parker; Pamela Kwick; Howard Flynn, Jr.; Kenneth Flynn; Terry Flynn; and Thomas Flynn; step-brother Harold Flynn; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mildred Flynn; brother Hansel Flynn; and step-brother Larry Flynn.
Visitation will be on Sunday, May 22, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. The funeral service will be on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Doris Flynn officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Association.
