Mr. Howard Edward King, Indianapolis, passed away on the early morning of Wednesday, July 26, 2023. He was 76. Howard was born May 22, 1947 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, a son of the late Charles Stanley King and Catherine Melissa (McCoin) Rose.
Howard was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and honorably served his country with the United States Army. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator with Poindexter Excavating and retired as Superintendent in 2008 after 28 years of service. He was a member of the International Operating Engineers Local 103. Howard held his father-in-law, Doc Perdue, in very high esteem and gives him credit for teaching him to operate heavy equipment- a job he dearly loved.
Howard was a very social man and enjoyed talking to most anyone he met. He enjoyed shopping with his wife and assisting her in her love of genealogy. He and his wife looked forward to taking trips to Siesta Key, Florida in their truck and 5th-wheel every Spring. An avid coin collector, he also loved to fish and taking care of his tomato garden every year. Howard deeply loved his family, especially the grandchildren, and cherished the time they all spent together.
Howard is survived by his wife, Janet King; his daughters, Nina King and Rachel (Joe) Williams; his grandchildren, Devan Mahurin, Brandon King, Nathan Mahurin, Lucas King, Chelsea Mahurin, Samantha King, Mason Williams and Peyton Williams; his great-grandchildren, Nick Mahurin, Dylan Mahurin, Kael Mahurin, Annabelle Mahurin, Noah Mahurin and Lyra Galle; his sister, Mary Sue White as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his son, James King; a grandson, Tyler Williams and his siblings, Judith Marie Cargill, Charles Stanley King Jr. and David Michael King and his step-father, Charles Rose.
A memorial gathering is being planned for a date in the near future. A graveside service will be Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Columbarium Annex 725 West 42nd Street, Indianapolis
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has asked that those be offered, in Howard's memory, to the Alzheimer's Association.
