Obituary

Illa Sue Phillips, Indianapolis, IN, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. She was 77 years old. Sue was born in Kenvir, KY, to her parents Jim and Soonia Angel. Sue met her love, Ed Williams, in Detroit, MI, and they shared 55 years together navigating life.


Sue worked as a decorator for the Convention Center in Indianapolis and retired after many years of service. Sue was a lifelong woman of faith and had recently become much more passionate about her relationship with the Lord. Sue enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers in her garden, and she loved to share her harvests with neighbors, friends and family; her most recent achievement was seeing grapes finally start to grow. She truly had a green thumb. Sue had an amazing ability to make a meal out of anything and will be remembered for her famous spanishhamburgers and banana wafer pudding. Sue absolutely loved to spend time with her family, especially around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Sue will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, generosity, and loving nature. She truly was the best mother ever, and her memory will be forever cherished by those she leaves behind.


Sue is survived by her siblings; Donna ,Shirley, Irene, David, Bill, Jack, and Patricia; her children, Robert Anthony his wife (Andrea), Ketsia Lynn her husband (James), Suzette, and Joseph; her grandchildren, Kevin his wife Brittany, Brittany Renee, Jessica Lynn, Rylee, Brayton and his wife Shaylee, Mason, Peyton, Jacob, and Nathan, her great grandchildren, Kolton, Brayleigh, Alaina, Joanna; and several nieces and nephews.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents; her love, Ed; her grandchildren, Tyler and Katie; her siblings, LC, Dale, Jerry, Vincent, Violet, Demoine, Peggy, June, Dallas, and Oma Kay.


A visitation for Sue will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm
