Ione Mae Lakey, 99, of Indianapolis passed away March 27, 2020. She was born March 17, 1921 to Harry and Ethel Sitterding in Batesville, Indiana.

Ione earned an associate degree in business at the Indiana Business College. She was married to Charles Lakey and raised three children. Ione always kept busy and held many jobs; when she wasn't busy working, she enjoyed gardening and local festivities. Ione loved her family and helped to raise her great granddaughter; she also was host to 42 international students over several years. She was always active in church as a member of Advent Lutheran Church and then Bethany Lutheran, she also spent many summer days at Lutheran Hills camp, and she was a member of Eastern Star. Ione loved life and her family and friends. She will be missed deeply.

Ione is survived by her daughter, Patricia Lakey; son, Gary Lakey; granddaughter, Kia Wampler; great grandchildren, Nicole Wampler and Christian Kent; several nieces and nephews; and special friends.

In addition to her parents, Ione was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; siblings, Kenneth Sitterding, Jean Miles, and an infant brother; and son, Steven Lakey.
