J Daryel Chaney, age 68 of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his residence. He was born March 6, 1948 in Franklin to William Everett and Lillian Lucile (Oetzel) Chaney. He was a graduate of Franklin High School with the Class of 1966. He worked at Allison Gas Turbine and retired after 30 years of service. J was an avid fisherman and hunter and he loved to paint and do woodworking in his hobby shed at home.

J married the former Connie Jean Thompson on December 22, 1995 and she preceded him in death on March 20, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his father and brothers, Rodney and Benny Chaney. He is survived by his mother, Lillian; sons, Bret (Rhonda) Chaney of Morgantown, Ty (Mary Beth) Chaney of Greenwood and Clay (Amanda) Chaney of Bargersville; step-son, Bobby (Tammy) Newkirk of Greenwood; step-daughter, Christina (John) Goetcheus of Indianapolis; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
