J. Martin Jones, 88, of Franklin, passed away February 19, 2014. The son of Tompie and Ruth Martin Jones, he was born December 23, 1925 in Fountain Run, Kentucky.

Martin was a salesman with Wills Furniture & Appliance, worked as an independent photographer and was a Professional Square Dance Caller. Martin served in the US Army during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unite Citation and the American Theater Ribbon. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans.

Pastor Bill Blakely will conduct funeral services at 12:00 noon February 22, 2014 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Entombment with military honors will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.

Martin is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dodie E. Turley Jones of Franklin; sons, Martin A. (Salley) Jones of Franklin and Larry R. (Debbie) Jones of Indianapolis; daughters, Linda K. (Robert) Camden of Indianapolis, Janet C. (Marty) Sadler of Lafayette and Barbara A. (Tom) Allington of Indianapolis; sisters, Doris Crafton of Bargersville and Sandra Estep of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Tracy Woodruff, Rachelle McKee, 1SG Ronald Gardner, Robyn Bland, Bryan Cantwell, Kathryn Jones, Leigh Connor and Laurel Himmel ; great-grandchildren, Camden Martin, Dallas Martin, Ivan Woodruff, Emory Woodruff, Nathan McKee, Anthony McKee, Morgan Gardner, Sadie Gardner, Brooke Gardner, Kylee Gardner, Abbi Gardner, Wyatt, Gardner, Peyton Hughes, Kole Hughes, Adriana Bland, Tyler Bland, Amanda Reeves, Michael Roberts, Nicholis Prather, Macey Prather and Kailee Prather and great-great grandchildren, Amberlee Roberts, Jayln Reeves and Curtis Reeves. Besides his parents, Martin was preceded in death by brother, Thomas Jones.
