James "Bill" William Brown, 89, Sunbury, Ohio, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away April 30, 2014. The son of George W. and Burrilla Davidson Brown, Bill was born July 22, 1924 in Bedford, Indiana.
An U.S. Army veteran, Bill served during WW II. For 40 years, he owned and operated Brown's Mower Sales & Service in Smith Valley. He also worked as foremen for Carlisle Corporation. He was a member of Smith Valley Baptist Church, VFW Post 5864, Greenwood and the Disabled American Veterans.
Bill is survived by his wife, Bernice Wheeler Brown of Sunbury, whom he married on April 2, 1954; son, Kevin L. (Kelly) Brown of Sunbury; daughter, Pamela K. (Reese) Cartwright of Post Falls, Idaho; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Kendell L. Brown; brothers, Buster and Bob; sisters, Margaret, Helen and Pauline.
Pastor Bob Newlin will conduct funeral services 12:00 p.m. May 5, 2014 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. May 4, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
