James E. Cummick, 86, of Greenwood, passed away March 17, 2013 at the Hearth at Stones Crossing. The son of Samuel and Elizabeth Snell Cummick, James was born April 2 1926 in Jasonville, Indiana.

A machine repairman, he retired from Ford Motor Company in 1992 after 35 years of service. James was a member of the UAW and the Southport Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. #270.

Private services with military honors will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.

James is survived by sons, Larry F. Cummick of Mooresville and Andrew W. (Susan) Cummick of St. Augustine, Florida; daughters, Linda M. (Douglas) Nies and Peggy J. (Thomas) Ward, both of Greenwood; brother, Sam (Terri) Cummick of Ft. Wayne; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Olive M. Cummick on September 8, 2009, whom he married on March 29, 1950; brother, Ralph Cummick and sisters, Anna Apple, Mary Taylor, Margaret Sharp, Ethel Martin, Alma Askren and Ellen Cummick.
