James Justin Foist, 48, of Greenwood, IN passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2025. He was born September 20, 1976 to Lura Renee Gathman.

James was a union electrician and member of IBEW Local 481. James was a loyal, hardworking man. He loved his family and friends dearly. He was always willing to lend a hand to help with a smile on his face. He was a devoted fan of the Colts, Pacers and his IU Hoosiers. It was rare sight to see James not wearing sports apparel representing one of his teams. James will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

James was a proud husband to his wife Amanda (Hire) for 26 years and devoted father to Elizabeth and Ethan. In addition to Amanda, Elizabeth and Ethan, James is survived by his mother Lura "Renee" Gathman, sister Heather Clarkson, stepsister Kendra Nevitt, aunt Alicia J. Cosby, mother in-law Deborah Money, brother and sister in-laws Wesley (Susan) Morgan, James (Christina) Waltz, Ronnie Money, Jennifer Lawrence and numerous nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his grandmother Helen C. Foist, stepfather Danny Gathman, and uncles Sam Foist, Brian Foist and Steve Foist as well as his father in-law Gerald Hire, and stepfather in-law Grady Money.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
