Obituary

James L. Knight, 74, passed away February 21, 2016 at his Greenwood residence. The son of James Curtis and Grace Melba Nunley Knight, James was born March 2, 1941 in Lauderdale County, Alabama.

James was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, carpentry and spending time with his family. In 1993, after 33 years of service, James retired from Eli Lilly and Company.

James is survived by his wife, Thelma L. (Wheeler) Knight, of Greenwood, whom he married on July 1, 1960; son, James B. (Lora) Knight of Bryan, Ohio; daughter, Michelle L. (John) Chappelow of Mooresville; brother, William Robert (Judy) Knight of Bloomington; sisters, Claudell (Bill) Knight Tucker and Mary (Dennis) Knight Walden, both of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Seagers) Chappelow Rodrigues of Bloomington, John Trevor (Kathryn) Chappelow of Eagan, Minnesota, Matthew Chappelow of Mooresville, Emily Knight, Sarah Knight and Ryan Knight, all of Bryan, Ohio. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry W. Knight.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. February 27, 2016 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. February 26, 2016 and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. February 27, 2016.
