James (Jim) Marianos, 98, was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 8, 1920 to Nicholas and Teresa Marianos.  Jim graduated from Manual Training High School in 1938 where he played varsity football.  He continued playing football for various Semi-Pro football teams and was on the Indiana Semi-Pro Football All Star Team for three consecutive years.  On January 22, 1942 he married Loraine Hatfield.  Jim and Loraine celebrated their 76 ^th wedding anniversary this past January, shortly before Loraine's death on January 28, 2018.  They lived in Indianapolis until 2004 when they moved to Tucson, Arizona.

Jim served in the Army from 1942 to 1946 and was discharged as a First Sergeant.  At the time of his discharge, he was the Athletic and Recreation Director at Camp Hulen, Texas.  Jim worked for over 50 years at Beveridge Paper Company in Indianapolis where he was the Purchasing Agent and Plant Safety Manager.  In addition to sports, Jim loved to hunt and fish and work in his garden. He was an avid woodworker and enjoyed coaching little league baseball.  For over 25 years, Jim and Loraine had a weekend home on Cordry-Sweetwater Lakes in Brown County, Indiana.

After moving to Tucson, Jim enjoyed playing golf, bocce ball and was a regular at the fitness center.  He loved spending time with his son Don and his wife Kathy who live in Pinetop, Arizona.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by brothers George and Gus Marianos and sisters Bertha Siroky, Freida Floodas, and Sophie LeBlanc.  He is survived by his son, Don (Kathy) Marianos and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Jim had a long and productive life filled with much love and happiness.  We were so fortunate to have been able to share so many years with him and will miss him greatly.

Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood, Indiana at 1:00pm, Tuesday, November 27, 2018.  Internment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens immediately following the funeral services.
