Obituary

James "Jim, Dad, Papaw" Edward Moore, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 29th, 2020 at St Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on August 20, 1930 to Walter and Estelle Moore in Wise County , Virginia.

James was a strong and proud Railroad worker; he began his career with New York Central Railroad and retired in 1997 after 4 2 years as a conductor for the Conrail Railroad Company . Until the time of James's passing, he would tell stories of the glory days riding the rails of the Mid- W est. He was an active member of the Indiana Freemasons, Lodge No. 707, F. & A. M., in West Newton, Indiana. O n December 05, 1980 James received his Official Degree of Past Master, an achievement he held in the highest regard and carried with pride for all of his days. He was a devoted husband and married the love of his life , Mary Faye . H e never forgot the days of watching her play high school softball in their youth. James was also a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather and could always be found supporting his family at events including baton twirling, dance, ballet, cheer, football, wrestling, basketball or baseball . James also enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, playing cards and bingo , watching boxing matches and baseball games and generally being a cut-up. He had a sense of humor that had no bounds and often referred to himself as the "best looking man in the room" . T hat description applied to any room he entered. James also loved to joke and especially enjoyed gags that could bring him laughs at the expense of his friends . H e was a joy to be around and will be sorely missed by his family and all who had the honor to cross his path.

James is survived by his daughters, Theresa White and Karla (Joe) Fisher; grandchildren, James (Missy) Eller, Christopher Caudill , Ashley (Jord a n) Davis and Zachary Fisher; great-grandchildren, Emma, Avery and A va Eller; and siblings, Patricia Cook, Bill Moore, Victor Lynn Moore and Jerry "Garland" Moore.

James is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Faye Moore, his eldest daughter, Donna Moore ; siblings, Thelma Wise, Alma Dickenson, Donald Moore, Sidney Moore, Franklin "Bud" Moore, Walter Moore Jr, and Carl "David" Moore; and son-in law, Richard "Rich" White.

Visitation and the funeral service will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Garden. The visitation will be Wednesday September 02 , 2020 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. All attending must wear face coverings . Funeral Services will be held on Thursday September 03, 2020 at 11:00 am.
