James A. Shepherd, age 93, of Greenwood, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016. He was born May 25, 1923 in Russell Springs, KY to Edward and Ada (Irvin) Shepherd. James was a WWII Army veteran who served in Northern Appennines Po Valley. He was a member of the Greenwood American Legion and the V.F.W. He was an avid NASCAR fan and Indianapolis Colts fan.

On June 22, 1952 he married the former Callie Scholl on June 22, 1952 and she preceded him in death on April 29, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Cunningham of Fishers; brother, Edward (Chestina) Shepherd, Jr. of Russell Springs, KY; granddaughter, Brooke (Dave) Snyder of Indianapolis; great grandchildren, Cali, Isla and Herman James Snyder.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
