L. Jane Macke Stegnach 85 of Greenwood, Indiana passed away at St. Francis Hospital on February 10, 2008. She was born May 29, 1922 in Marshall, Illinois to Everett W. and Ruth H. Macke. Jane graduated from Marshall High School (Marshall, Illinois). She left Marshall and lived in Terre Haute, Indiana and later moved to Gary, Indiana, where she met and married Gilbert R. Stegnach and raised their two daughters. She lived in Gary until 1970 when she moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She and Gilbert later moved to Indianapolis. Jane worked at Wasson's Department Store in Indianapolis for many years. She loved politics and current affairs and for many years was a poll worker during primary and general elections. Jane lived for the last ten years with her loving daughter Barbara and her family. Most recently she was a resident of Rosegate Retirement Community. She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert, her parents and a brother, Charles Macke of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Surviving are daughters Cheryl Stegnach McManama of Indianapolis, Son-in-law David McManama, Barbara Stegnach Ziegner of Greenwood, Indiana, Son-in-law David Ziegner and three Granddaughters, Megan Jane and Amy Marie McManama and Jennifer Jane Ziegner. Also surviving are brother Everett Macke, Jr. (Nancy) of Cookeville, Tennessee and sisters Bette Ann Young (Wilbur) of Tampa, Florida and Ruth Hemeier of Greenwood, Indiana. Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood on Friday, February 15, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Saturday, February 16 at 11 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
