Janet Kay
Whitney
June 23, 1942 – April 4, 2026
Janet Kay Whitney, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, service, and love.
Janet’s life was rooted in her deep devotion to the Lord, whom she loved above all else. She dedicated many years to missionary work, traveling to share the joy and message of Jesus with others. Her servant’s heart was also evident in her consistent volunteering at her local church, (Suburban Baptist Church), where she faithfully gave her time, compassion, and spirit to her community.
Janet had a smile that could light up any room she walked into: a reflection of the joy and kindness she carried within her. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures including crafting, playing cards, traveling, tending to her flower garden and most of all, spending meaningful time with her family and loved ones. Her warmth, generosity, and steadfast faith touched everyone who knew her.
“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.” Proverbs 31:25
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles E. Whitney; her parents, Thelma and John Taylor I; her sister, Jackie Means; and her brother, John Taylor II.
Janet is survived by her brother, Jerry Taylor; her son, Charles “Guy” Whitney (Debbie Whitney); her daughter, Sherri Baggett (Whitney); her grandchildren, Brandon Baggett (Maddie Baggett), Whitney Boerger (Phil Boerger), and Chris Whitney; her great-grandchildren, Landon Baggett, Penn Boerger, and Piers Boerger; and her great-great-grandchild, Lucas Baggett.
Janet’s life was a testament to faith, love, and service. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those blessed to know her.
