Janice K. Craven, aged 84, passed away December 20, 2022. She was born on October 8, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Louis and Clara Shipman. Janice went on to marry Joseph E. Craven, III, on August 8, 1956. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2014. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Janice was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ since 1966. Janice was an avid bowler and golfer, doing both until 81 years of age. Janice was a sports enthusiast of the Indianapolis Colts, IU Basketball and the Cincinnati Reds.

Janice started her professional career at Herff Jones. Janice retired from WTTV, Channel 4 in 2001, after 35 years of service. Janice came out of retirement to work at Channel 8 for 15 years.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Friedens UCC, 8300 S. Meridian, Indianapolis, Indiana 46217, with funeral services Wednesday, December 28th at 11:00AM. The service will begin at Friedens UCC and close in the Forest Lawn Chapel, 1977 S State Rd 135, Greenwood, IN 46143 and interment at 2PM.

Janice is survived by her loving children, Michelle Powell and Mark Craven; grandchildren, Mitchell Powell, Matthew Powell, Brittany Craven, Sarah Craven and Savannah Craven, as well as 2 great grandchildren.
Janice was preceded in death by her siblings; Betty Jordan, Louis "Junie" Shipman and Charles "Tootie" Shipman.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Friedens UCC and Forest Lawn Memory Funeral Home and Memory Gardens.
