Janice J. Holmes, Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023. She was 96 years old. Janice was born in Homer, IN to her parents Estell and Beulah Alexander. She graduated from Rushville High School, class of 1943. Janice married her husband, Arnold Holmes, on January 14, 1948 and they shared 62 years of marriage together until Arnold passed away in 2010.
Janice worked a variety of jobs throughout her life but mainly served as a homemaker for her family.  Janice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for many years. Janice enjoyed writing poetry and watching old movies. She mothered over 30 foster children throughout her life and raised a plethora of beloved pets, including her cat Zoe. Janice loved spending time with her family and her feisty personality will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.
Janice is survived by her children, Janet (Tom) Miller and Paula (Steve) Jones; her grandchildren, Michael (Michaela) Burleson, Rebecca (Jordan)  Easton, and Rachel Jones; her great grandchildren, Ella, Kellen, Olivia, and Charles.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arnold Holmes; her sisters, JoAnn Wainwright and Vickie Alexander; her great grandchild, Zion.
A visitation for Janice will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm.
