Mr. Jay Patrick "Pat" Calvert, Greenwood, passed away on the afternoon of Saturday, February 19, 2022. He was 81. Pat was born November 16, 1940 in the rolling hills of Birdseye, Kentucky, a son of the late Roy L. and Orgalean (Keen) Calvert.
Pat attended Emmerich Manual High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1959. He earned an Associates degree from Indiana Central University now known as the University of Indianapolis. He was the owner and Financial Consultant of Calvert Capital Partners LLC and had been involved in the financial and investment business for 52 years. Pat was an enthusiastic and astute participant in anything involving business. It was his life.
To say that Pat enjoyed playing tennis is an understatement! Over the years, he had attended and visited several tennis academies with friends in Florida and had attended the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament in New York City many times.
Pat loved his family deeply and with his wife, Rita, looked forward to family vacations in Florida and he cherished each and every moment he could be with them. He immensely enjoyed sports and especially enjoyed attending events in which his grandchildren participated. He was always there….cheering them on. Pat was also an avid fan of both the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers.
Pat is survived by his children, Lisa (Tim) Sutton, Jay (Anitra) Calvert and Andrea (John) Sanders and Angela Calvert; his grandchildren, Kaitlin (Eric) Hetland, Scott Sutton, Nick Calvert, Alexis Calvert, Josh Calvert, Sam Utzig, Ethan Utzig, William Sanders, Jessica Sanders, Calvin Pickens and Cameron Calvert; a great-granddaughter, Harper Hetland; his sister, Sue Wincel; a sister-in-law, Patty Calvert as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his loving wife, Rita M. Calvert and his brothers, Larry Calvert and Eric Calvert.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 pm, Monday, February 28, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to be offered in Pat's honor to the Greenwood Parks and Recreation Department.
