Jean Marie Root, 83, of Franklin passed away April 7, 2009. Jean was born in Akron, Ohio on October 16, 1925 to the late Walter B. & Myrtle M. Force Dawson. She is also preceded in death by her husband Ralph R. Root. Jean was a very crafty person, designing cakes, making jewelry and enjoying her dolls. She worked as a kitchen manager for Franklin Township Elementary Schools for over 20 years. After retirement she enjoyed traveling to great places from Alaska to Hawaii. Jean was a volunteer in the Women's Auxilary for Bunker Hill Fire Department. She was also a member of The Church at Stones Crossing. Survivors include a brother, Paul Dawson. Three daughters and two son-inlaws, Patricia & Joe Hodge, Carol & Mike Rider and Susan Wilcher. Three grandaughters, Denice Taylor, Andrea Wilson and Megan Purlee. Three great grandchildren. Family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Thursday. Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Friday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143.
